About Us

la bel Worstell is a newly constructed luxurious estate and bed and breakfast on the west bank of the Hudson River.  Located just south of the United States Military Academy (West Point) and just North of Bear Mountain State Park, the facility offers river views that are unequalled each season with changing cloud formations, pleasure boating and commercial boating scenes.  Even the storms are majestic.

The adults only facility offers a beautiful getaway from lifes' daily challenges, a romantic interlude, or a well-deserved vacation.  Roam the ~ 4-acre site with hiking trails to the Japanese Tea House, to the rivers edge where you can picnic or relax in the hammock, or lounge in the pool.  View the "tall ships" as they sail up the Hudson, not unlike the same journey of over 200 years ago; contrast that with the racing cigarette boats from downriver or sit among the pine tree mini groves, observe the birds and wildlife...leave reality behind for another time and just "escape" the chains of everyday routine.

Have breakfast in the large dining/kitchen area...let the gourmet coffee aroma provide the perfect start to a day of activities in an area abounding in historical sites and events.   Converse with the innkeeper, a person with broad interests and worldwide experiences.   Meeting the other guests is also enjoyable and an unique element of the bed and breakfast experience and memories.

BandB

The estate name is derived from the Worstell's who were entreprenurial carpenters in West Virginia and the Bel stone mason dynasty, The Castles of Mar masons in the 1600's in Aberdeen Scotland.   At least six of the castles are still maintained by the National Trust of Scotland.

Fast-forward to today, the la bel Worstell BandB is the premier in the Hudson Valley Region as well as the venue for area galas honoring noted individuals.

la bel Worstell's neighboring "big houses" were 19th century NYC getaways for families like J.P. Morgan to the Hudson Highlands, a place of breathtaking natural beauty where events influenced the course of history.
